According to Socrates, true wisdom is knowing what you do not know. Knowing yourself is recognizing the limits of your wisdom and understanding.
Per Plato, knowing oneself is recognizing your mind’s/soul’s potential to understand the essence of philosophical concepts such as justice, love, goodness, and so on.
For Friedrich Nietzsche, it means more like recognizing and embracing your individuality, and your unique perspectives.
The Postmodern Interpretation of “Know Thyself” is to understand how your identity is shaped by various external factors such as your culture, your ethnicity, your linguistic structures, your religious or political assumptions, and so on.
