Do you ever find yourself using the terms Customer, Consumer, and Client interchangeably? You’re not alone! I have been guilty of this on several occasions.
It’s essential to understand the differences between these three roles, particularly in the context of new-age businesses where the lines are becoming increasingly blurred.
Customer – Someone who buys products or services from a business. They are focused on economic exchange, i.e., purchasing products or services for a price.
Consumer – A person who uses or consumes the products or services purchased by the customer. They are typically the end-user, the ones that use the product or service.
Client – Someone who receives professional services or advice from a business or individual. It implies a long-standing relationship that is deeper, requires more involvement, and is beneficial for both parties.
We have played these roles and catered to them. Which ones did you enjoy the most and why? Happy to hear about your experiences.
