In the past, I have been guilty of considering Product Vision and Product Mission as just some fancy statements.
Having worked on various products with a fair share of successes and failures, I can now comprehend the importance of Product Vision & Product Mission statements.
Product Vision provides a “big picture” of what a product wants to achieve. It is like a destination on a map.
Product Mission is the specific action plan of action to achieve the vision. It is like the best route that you would take to reach the destination.
In a nutshell,
Product Vision answers, “What do we want to achieve with our product(s)?”
Product Mission answers, “How are we going to achieve our product vision?”
Here are the top 3 original versions that I like.

Mission: Our mission is to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) benefits humanity. We conduct research and build open-source tools for the community to advance AI and create a more equitable future.
Amazon:
Vision: Our vision is to be Earth’s most customer-centric company; to build a place where people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online.
Mission: We strive to offer our customers the lowest possible prices, the best available selection, and the utmost convenience.”
Google:
Vision: To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.
Mission: To deliver the best possible user experience by providing relevant and accurate search results quickly and easily, while building powerful, intuitive tools for users to find, organize, and use information.
